The Church Investigation
It isn't often that the CRPIS gets invited to check out strange phenomena at a church but for two separate investigations, that's exactly where the CRPIS was invited to go. The church was located here in Wisconsin and the Pastor reported that several members of the church who worked in the church offices had been hearing the sounds of children running and playing in the church. That isn't so remarkable until you hear that no children were physically in the church during the times when these noises were reported nor could they have been without someone knowing they were there. Indeed, the Pastor himself had noticed strange things that occurred from time to time including a rather heavy door that would be propped open one minute only to close by itself with nobody near it.
The church was built on property that was once a farmstead but we are uncertain if this connection to an earlier use of the land holds any connection to the sounds of children playing in the halls or the sound of voices coming from the bathroom area. We believe that the voices that are heard could be the result of place memory, a "memory" that has imprinted itself on the grounds or the building itself that replays like a film loop when the conditions are favorable. We have reached no determination yet as to the actual causes but have ruled out certain structural aspects of the building and other easily explainable reasons such as noise from the street being carried indoors through vents, etc.
The CRPIS team has made two trips to this particular church and in both instances, we have experienced things that would tend to lead one to believe that something paranormal in nature may be occurring. Batteries being drained, voices that can be heard but cannot be easily understood, strange anomalous objects in photos and video. In short, many of the things that you could normally associate with haunting phenomena have presented themselves to the team and yet we are not ready to make any determination as to what may or may not be occurring. We may need to spend an overnight in the church to truly get a sense for what is happening and to experience things first hand.
We did experience the strange door activity and other things but we are still reluctant to declare that this is an actual haunting of a church. Can churches be haunted? There is another case here in Wisconsin of a Norwegian Lutheran church in which a phantom congregation is said to be heard singing hymns in Norwegian and some other associated activity. Like other places, churches can, it seems, be haunted. Perhaps a church is more of a perfect place than any other in some respects. Although we have not ruled out paranormal phenomena in this case, we have not claimed it to be as the evidence thus far is compelling but not definite.

We wish to keep the identity of the Pastor and the location of the church anonymous until the investigation is completed and we obtain permission from the Pastor to use certain photos for this website.
